Mother of Good Counsel Home is a skilled nursing facility that has served the St. Louis community with compassionate and professional care since 1932. Led by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George, our mission is to “witness Christ’s merciful love by providing quality nursing care motivated by respect for the people we serve. We strive always to make Christ’s merciful love visible to those who come to share our lives, our hearts and our home.”
We offer a peaceful, home-like environment that speaks to the dignity of each person. Spacious, light-filled rooms quickly become “home” to our residents as they are encouraged to furnish their new living quarters with their own furniture and decorations. We establish stability for residents through continuity of staff and the ability for them to remain in the same room throughout their stay at Mother of Good Counsel Home.
More than 40% of our staff has been employed at the Home for more than 10 years. Our 7:1 ratio of residents-to-nursing staff gives both residents and staff the assurance that excellent care will always be given.
We welcome family and friends to our Home at all times. We often see families and visitors at our weekday 6 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Masses or at Sunday Mass (5:50 a.m. and 10 a.m.) in our Chapel, potluck dinners, special events, and walks and visits on our beautiful seven-acre campus. Catholicism is at the heart of our Home and mission, yet we welcome those of all faiths. More than 20 percent of our residents have chosen to live at the Home because of the positive experience and loving care shown to another family member.
Mother of Good Counsel Home is easily accessed from I-70, I-170 and I-270. The central business district of Clayton (20 minutes), the campus of University of Missouri-St. Louis (5 minutes) and Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (10 minutes) are all close by.
